Can I Help You?

Is it just me or is there anyone else out there that just hates when people, complete strangers, come and bother you while at work? I always knew this to be true about me, but it seemed to bother me even more so this weekend. Why is it that people feel the need to do this? Don’t be walking up on me like you know me. What about my personage has leads you to believe I am here to help you? Your own personal valet! Is it the uniform? Is it the marked squad car? Seriously, I need to know.
Twice, over the weekend, two people flagged me down (meaning that they saw me, minding my own business and decided to come over and bother me). So, in my head, I’m like, “what?” But you have to say it as if you are a teenage, at home, watching your favorite television show and your mother keeps calling and calling you-like she can’t wait until the next freaking commercial! Yeah, that’s it. Now you are feeling me. Anyway, although I don’t verbalize it to the poor citizen, I know it reads all over my body that I wish they’d leave me alone. (Can’t you solve your own damn problem? Shesh.) It is such a disserve. Thank goodness that it is the nature of mankind to be more self evolved then myself, so they are not taking the time to read my body language.
Of course I always help the person, to the best of my ability, and I normally end up feeling bad that I did not give the friendly, I love my job, type of customer service that I am known for (really, I am known for it). I give it every time a respond to a call. These people off the street just seem to broadside a brother. Damn!
As I was driving home from work, tired and worn, I contemplated why it is that it annoys me so much when people just come off of the street asking for help. I have come to the conclusion that I put these people in the same category as people who cut in line. They have just by passed the middle man and went right to the source. They have cheated the people who went through the trouble of dialing 9-11. What makes them so damn special? Wait in line like everyone else, bitch (the unsex bitch, which refers to either a man or a woman. Not the rude ‘bitch’ bitch.).
I know, I know. This is sick and I should seriously consider therapy. But the way I see it…as long as I am aware of and openly admit that I have the little idiocracy; I’ve already won half the battle. Right? Right? Well, it helps me to sleep at night, at any rate; so there!

-One Man’s (somewhat psychotic) Opinion. Peace.

(I’m gonna have to stop sharing with you people. Blog therapy sucks.)

....so ...this public servant thing is not necessarily in the top 3 reasons you became an officer I see...
1. carry a gun
2. turn on flashing lights and roll through red lights even though there is no emergency
3. drive around in cruiser, talking on cellphone, while holding a burger...and then pulling over and ticketing random ppl doing same shit your doing.

Just sayin... if I need muthaeffin directions to McDonalds, the bank, the wash house, or anywhere else...I'm stopping a cop on GP! LOL
Hell, y'all get to pull over and be all up in ppl's business for NO good gotdamn reason...I'mma start doing that too.

*how is it you tag someone and ain't even comeback through to red the tag...just sayin'*

blah blah blah....talk about your sterio types. I actually have always like helping people. It make me feel good. And I know that it is the citizens that pay my salary, but it still annoys me for people to just walk up on me for "GP" as you say.
"Turn on flashing lights and roll through red lights even though there is no emergency?" Really? I have never done that, to be honest with you. And I don't know to many officers that do. Besides, in the City I work in we have red light cameras and if you run a red light, cop or not, you have to pay a seventy five dollar fine (get it right, baby girl).
Cellphone? I just got one this year, because I am now a supervisor and want my troops to be able to reach me. I don't drive and talk on the phone. Hell, I work deep nights. I don't have anyone to talk to that late or early in the morning. And I have never, ever, in my life been able to eat and drive at the same time. It's just not something that I do.

See there...How little you know about me. Shame shame. Well, now you know more. Anything else? Anyone? I'm good for more. Fire away.

Oh, I do like to carry a gun (once I got use to it), but I live in Texas. We all pretty much carry guns. Don't need a badge to do that here. :)

I have a story that supports your position. A cop friend I use to work out with had the same complaint.

He was once called to a burglary in progress and was working his way up the side of the building with his gun drawn, when a guy he knew from his gym slipped up behind him (the cop never saw him) and asked "what ya doing?" The cop told me he almost shot the guy and wet his pants at the same time. Sure it's funny but WTF was the guy thinking?

Sometimes someone doing the publics business is not the publics business.

Well, I hope that I'm never in need of assistance from an Officer of the Law, especially now that I know my need for help would be looked upon as such an impertinance. BUT, I can understand what you are saying in terms of a "job" and having people annoy you while you are working, or not working for that matter. I hate it when I'm at my desk and the phone rings..."Wwwhhhaaaauuuutttttah!" often comes out of my mouth (I little to no inner monolouge...it's sad) :)
N-E-WAY, just stopping in to say hello.

... "Hello" :)
