Justice or Just US?

Today is a day of protest in the Jena Six case. Today, thousands of people, from all over, gather together to voice their discontent in regards to six young black men, charged with the attempted murder of a white classmate. A white classmate who was able to go to a school function the day after he caught the beat down from the six.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I am all about accountability for our people. Damn it, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Do the right thing! If you don’t want to face the punishment then, damn it, don’t do the crime. On the other hand, let the punishment fit the crime and don’t have a different set of laws for one group than another. The end of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag says; “…with liberty and justice for all” not some, damn it!

For those of you who do not know, I make my living as a police officer. I have seen people get literally beaten to a pulp. The most resent case was where a black woman was bashed in the back of the head, while at a club, by a black man. When I arrived on scene she was unconscious and bleeding profusely from the back of the head. She was in a very bad way and true to form; plenty of people around but nobody saw anything. So, consequently the perpetrator of this offense got away. I said that to say this. The person who committed that crime, if caught, should be placed on trail for attempted murder, because you can bet that woman didn’t get up to go to no function the day after, or the day after that or the day after that.

So, why is it that we still face such injustice, as black folks, in this world that we live in? Can somebody please tell me? It can’t be that we don’t hold positions of power, because that ain’t true; look at the Condoleezza Rices and Barack Obamas of the world. And it can’t be that we don’t have money; people like Oprah are making money hand over fist these days. Yet we are still being treated like second class citizens in a land that we were forced to help build. Why is that?

Can it be because we still don’t own the media? Let’s face it folks, the hand that tapes the broadcast rules the world. So, while these young men sit in jail wondering what their fates will be, the all powerful media focuses all its attention on O.J. Simpson’s dumb ass. I COULD CARELESS THAT HE TOOK HIS SHIT BACK FROM THAT WHITE BOY, AT GUN POINT! And who cares that Kanye West sold more albums then 50 cents? There are more pressing things going on in the world. People are doing worst shit ever day! And most of those people are white (but you didn’t hear that from me).

Anyway, I wish the Jena Six the best of luck. That being said, I hope they learn something from this, because if they do not all of this was for not and the question I posed before will have been answered.

One Man’s Opinion. Peace.

Wow...I can imagine all the things you see as a police officer.

I'm hoping all the focus on Jena, LA does bring justice for the six black men. I couldn't imagine the psychological effects seeing nooses hanging on a tree would do.

And O.J. is one dumb MF!!! I"m pissed that his stupid ass is still making the news.
