Where Are We Headed?

January 8, 1811, Charles Deslondes led a slave revolt in New Orleans. January 2, 1965 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called for protest when Alabama Blacks were not allowed to vote. One February 12, 1909, the NAACP was founded in New York City. And, sometime during this decade the person in the above video, beat the hell out of a defenseless old man, just so he could take his car, all while other people who looked like us looked on. Makes you proud to have brown skin, don’t it?
What have you done to uplift your race, whatever it might be, today.
One Man’s Opinion. Peace.

I would really like to thank all of you for the kind works and helpful advice. I am much better now.

You know I got love for you on this one. I couldn't even watch the whole vid (especially when they loop it to amp up the shock value). Yeah I am glad the NEGRO got caught and will serve his time but ask ourselves, WILL IT SERVE HIS MIND?

Changes are it won't. I might be a little extreme but I feel that once ol Boy gets TIME SERVED, she should be an endenture worker for the Man and or his Family.

In some cultures, when you wrong the individual, you wrong the whole family and as such, you have to be forgiven by the whole family.

The results can go both ways but in the positive, the MAN who he decided to disrespect and deem insignificant will be part of his legacy as an extension of his stint of restitution. Why should this be considered? The issue is, there IS a disconnection deep within BLACK people of America. I just believe that the American brand of justice does not address these issues and yet they perpetuate the NEGATIVE which is currently in place.

I think the correct term for the guy doing the beating would be 'asshole'.

Not to get all philosophical about it, but you have to wonder what happened in that asshole's life for him to think beating a 91 year old man senseless is acceptable behavior.

I remember seeing this a while back, it stills brings chills on.

I have always been against the death penalty or the kind punishment some people get in prison by the guards or their fellow inmates. But in this case, I would easily turn my back and let whatever happens to the criminal happen to him.

Sure there is a chance for rehabilitation and maybe even restitution, but I'd leave that for others to deal with.

I remember seeing this video. That was some f'd up ish. The kinda stuff that makes you want to shoot dude attacking the 91 year old man, right between his eyes. Even the female with dude knew it was f'd up.

This world we live in...

Damn. *SMH* That is a shame how 'we' do the elders in our community. Riding with Shazza on this one, he should do some kind of service to that man and his family for his crime! Because, yes he will do the time, but will it change his mind? Doubt it.

This was very sad to watch, for so many reasons. I have such great respect for the elderly and i just can't even comprehend this act, not at all. All i can do is try to raise my son to respect people and try to always talk to his friends about the same...i know i can't change the world...but i can raise my own, in the right way...God willing.

I have no words for this video.

I do have words that I hope will uplift on my blog. I'm soooo glad you're feeling better and I wish you Happy Valentine's Day!

you know, i didn't even watch the video the first time...[couldn't you tell from my lackluster comment about the video?..haha]...went back to try and watch it and could not...i can't imagine how someone could beat an elder like that...even if the elder was white and was calling me a black-ass nigger african jungle booty-scratching monkey, i could not beat them like that...what the hell is wrong with folks?...they are literally going crazy!!...

I agree with you, Shazza, on the "disconnect" deep within Black people. What can we do to re-connect it? Seriously, I wish I knew.

My simple answer, Bangs and a Bun, is no home training. I know it is a total sale out to blame things on Home Training, but let's face it. That is where it normally all begins.

Dejanae, it is the people that stood around and watched that sickened me the most. Whatever happen to the milk of human kindness.
